Latest News including Gazza Update

03 April 2018

Caernarfon Town Football Club and the Canaries Club held a joint meeting at the Oval tonight to update stakeholders on matters relating to the club.

Following recent speculation in the media regarding the Evening with Paul Gascoigne that had been planned by the club’s former Commercial Manager, Tristram Lee, the club announced that money due to Mr Gascoigne’s agent from ticket sales had not been passed on by Mr Lee, and therefore the club has little choice at this stage but to postpone the evening. The club terminated Mr Lee’s contract in January and, following an internal investigation into the speculation regarding the Paul Gascoigne evening, the club passed the matter on to the Police, who we understand are investigation the matter.

We are determined to ensure that everyone who has bought a ticket will still get the opportunity to spend an evening with Gazza, and the decision has been made to reschedule the event. A date in October or November is a possibility and discussions have already begun with Mr Gascoigne’s agent. Further news will be announced as soon as the date has been confirmed and we wish to let all those who have already bought tickets for the event know that your tickets will be honoured on the rescheduled date. We will announce further news about the rescheduled event as soon as we finalise arrangements, which we hope will be in the next few days.

In other club news, first team manager Sean Eardley has announced that he will be continuing in his role for the 2018/19 season, and he also confirmed that his management team of Richard Davies and Mike Innes will remain by his side, whilst Rhys Jones will remain as the club's Physio and Alex Philp will continue his role as the first team's kitman.

It was also confirmed that Canaries Chairman Phil Jones will be joining the club on May 1st as our new Commercial Manager, taking over from Jim Edwards, who stepped in to help the club in January following the termination of the previous commercial manager’s contract in January. Jim has been an invaluable asset for us over the past two months and we wish to thank him for his unstinting work in assisting us.

Proposals for a new Tote were also announced and further information will be published soon.
